About BSR
Building for Social Responsibility (BSR) is a group of Vermont
development professionals and others who are concerned with the impact
of our work on our communities and environment. We believe that the
construction of environmentally sound, healthy, durable green buildings
offers one of the most significant solutions to the threats of global
warming and resource depletion. To this end we work to advance
technologies and practices that reduce our impact on the environment,
while supporting sustainable communities and economies.

Vermont Building Greener (VBG) Program
The Vermont Building Greener Program is a voluntary certification
program for residential buildings in Vermont. VBG both certifies and
quantifies that homes participating in the program are constructed to
sustainable criteria. VBG is an initiative of Building for Social
Responsibility, and is the first green building certification program
in the Northeast. The VBG program criteria have been created and
supported by regional experts, and are being used as a sustainable
standard in Vermont and elsewhere. It is anticipated that VBG and
programs like it will serve as a model for other similar green building
certification programs in the region. Contact BSR for information on
the VBG Program, to participate on the VBG Program Committee, or to
have a project certified.
The First Five Homes to apply for and receive VBG Certification after November 16, 2009 are eligible for a 100% rebate of the $700.00 certification application fee! Thank you Sierra Club! Click Here for details.
BSR meets monthly, typically on the last Tuesday.
